With a lack of transparency from HHS, it is hard to confirm the numbers and if any addition cuts are coming.

We estimate ~600 people were let go between Oct 10–11.

Late in the evening of October 10th, hundreds of staff at CDC received RIF notices. Entire programs were eliminated, including those that track important health statistics, handle communications to the public, & even more leadership across the agency.

no one. CDC leaders and supervisors had no say in any of this - the firings were at the hands of HHS, its parent agency.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.
