Yaaaaaaayyyyyy!

This was made by dropping paint onto the paper and then dragging through it with a bit of sea sponge, which I then dabbed onto the painting to add the little speckles around the ends of the stripes. I repeated the process a couple of times to get the layered effect.

This was made by dropping paint onto the paper and then dragging across it with a plastic card. I then dropped a little more paint into a couple of areas and let them flow together.

For those of you who followed me because I was painting birds, I hope you'll stick around!

There's a beauty in the unexpected moments that happen when you mix different paints with water and let them mingle together. I hope you'll find it as compelling as I do!

To make things fun, I'm only going to use paintbrushes to drop the paint onto the paper. Once its there, I'll manipulate it with other items, like plastic cards, sponges, salt, etc.

Each one will be an experiment and I'm going to do my best to let the paint do what it wants to do.

Here comes a new #rollandpaint theme!

I'm taking a little break from painting BC birds and will be doing some quick little limited-palette abstracts so I can free up some time for a ✨project✨ that I hope to be able to share in a month or two.

I’m not sure if I’ll bring the birds back as my daily painting subject right away once ✨ the project ✨ is complete, but I’m certain I’ll revisit them. They’ve been a joy to paint and share with y’all, and I haven’t painted a Chickadee yet! Or a Northern Flicker! Or a Steller’s Jay!

This is the last bird painting I’ll be sharing for a little while. I have another project I want to work on that hopefully you’ll see soon! I’m going to keep making and sharing daily paintings, but they will be a lot simpler for several weeks to free up some time to work on ✨ the project ✨.

It is! I think the foreshortening of the beak might be what’s giving you swallow vibes. I wanted to show the pink inside the mouth since the rest of the bird is monochrome and I’ve recently painted a couple of all grey/black birds.
