Not sure how energy prices are going up next year when the energy being generated by Bob Willis spinning in his grave would be enough to power the commonwealth for the foreseeable future

Some of the best nights of my life watching him and the other three. He just seemed like he fucking loved it. RIP mate β€οΈπ

4.5/5. Itβs an extremely brave choice to do a half-comedy film set during the holocaust but fuck me this was incredible. No spoilers but the opening scene was one of the funniest things Iβve seen in a while and the ending nearly had me in tears.

But this year I decided to. Fuck them, fuck fascism and fuck hatred. We will remember them.

Itβs grim. I havenβt worn a poppy for a few years because itβs been used as a tool by the right and by nationalists.
11.11.2025 11:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The amount of posts Iβve seen on other socials that say βtheyβd be spinning in their graves at the state of this countryβ etc is fucking disgusting. They all bang on about respect but to disrespect those who were coerced into giving their lives for this country and those that fought against fascism
11.11.2025 11:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My great-granduncle on my other side of the family, William Pye also died in Belgium on 24th December 1914, a day before the famous Christmas truce football match. His body was never found. He is one of 54,000 members of "The Missing" represented on the Menin Gate in Ypres.
11.11.2025 11:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0My family now have a book that was made in remembrance of Eric by his parents, including letters from the front, which I was fortunate enough to read this weekend, including stories of his channel crossing and his gratitude for some silk socks which had been sent over. They were an emotional read.
11.11.2025 11:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Eric decided he would enter the army from entry level along with 35 other riflemen in the 1/28th London Regiment, first going to France in November 1917. By the time the armistice was signed a year later, 12 of the 36 of his regiment were dead and another 12 had been sent home injured.
11.11.2025 11:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Eric had turned down the place he had been offered at University of Oxford in order to join the army. Due to his academic achievements to that point and due to his class he was given the option to enter the forces at Officer level, which he turned down. A decision which probably cost him his life.
11.11.2025 11:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In the leadup to this remembrance day, I've been researching the personal stories of my family, and today I'm in particular thinking of my great-granduncle, Eric Faulkner (pictured). This weekend, I learned more about the story of Eric, who aged just 19 in June 1918 after wounds received in action.
