21.05.2025 15:04 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0No better way to celebrate 10 years(!!) since joining the Grant lab than to celebrate at my PhD graduation! @struangrant.bsky.social I am so grateful for all the years of mentorship, and Iβm so excited to continue collaborating with you and the rest of our colleagues at Penn/CHOP for years to come!
20.05.2025 16:35 β π 7 π 2 π¬ 3 π 0Proud of my Alma mater (Penn/CHOP!), proud of biomedical scientists, proud of NIH-sponsored research, and most importantly, proud to be in the field that makes discoveries like this possible.
15.05.2025 18:59 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Everything is bad but Iβm finally in possession of my PhD tam so now one (1) thing is good. See you for graduation next month @cambupenn.bsky.social!

I just had my busiest week in lab since finishing my PhD, and I loved every second of it. This government can attack diversity and science and education all they want, but theyβll NEVER take away my passion for science and my responsibility to use my education to research cures for human disease
22.03.2025 02:11 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 02 years today since we lost Casey.
In a way year 2 was harder than year 1. He should have read my thesis and celebrated at my defense, and we should be getting beers at ASHG in Boston to talk about all the cool things Iβm doing in my postdoc now. We all still miss him.
Itβs officially 5 years since I got an email from Penn saying to βstay home for the next 2 weeks and then weβll reassess things from thereβ¦β While I have no desire to go back to the dark pre-vaccine days of COVID I will say this: while I was stuck at home, I wrote an NIH F31 grant and it got funded.
14.03.2025 02:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just make it 7, almost 8 pages like I did π
11.03.2025 14:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh you thought a little wind would stop Bostonians from showing up for science? Think again! #standupforscience2025
07.03.2025 21:16 β π 6 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0I was at the original March for Science in DC in 2017 as a relatively optimistic 21 year old, itβs hard to believe 8 years later things have gotten even worse
06.03.2025 16:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβd rather be in lab, but alas, Iβve got to go protest to save science. Again. Tomorrow (March 7), your state capital, time to Stand Up For Science

PubMed is down, so I thought βsurely BLAST wonβt also be downβ and uhβ¦ itβs also down.
Folks itβs getting bleaker by the day
Itβs so unbelievably embarrassing to be an American right now
01.03.2025 03:58 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If youβre like me youβve been doing a LOT of doomscrolling. Let me briefly interrupt your doomscrolling with my latest finished crochet project: a granny square afghan inspired by Spanish/Portuguese tiles that I gave to my sister for Christmas

10.02.2025 04:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I donβt want to be so pessimistic, but itβs hard not to feel completely demoralized having gone through 4 years of undergrad and 6+ years of my PhD just to watch all my future biomedical career prospects slip away at the whim of a government that couldnβt care less about its (non-billionaire) people
28.01.2025 23:48 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Fantastic work out of my new lab, so excited to be a part of ongoing efforts in the optical pooled screening world! Congrats to all the authors π

16.01.2025 03:43 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It will always be an honor to be a mentee of Casey. Iβm so deeply grateful to all the wonderful scientists who took the time to record these lectures to honor his memory and to make science more accessible to everyone. Special thanks to Shweta for making this all happen!

24.12.2024 01:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve had a great time these past 2 days at the Broad Retreat learning about some extremely cool science, and getting to spend time with my awesome new labmates! Iβm so grateful to have gone from one amazing lab environment at Penn to another one in Boston π
