It’s hard to square the narrative that Albertans tell themselves and that politicians reinforce about who we are now vs how the province began and was for decades. When 1 person’s vote moves toward counting 1.5x another 1 person’s vote, we have to look to refine our system.

Use that notwithstanding clause once and they get slap happy to do it again and again. The justices provided a very good situation that highlights why they found the ON legislation to be non-Constitutional. But when you give some folks a hammer, everything becomes a nail.

The Alberta President of the Canadian Bar Association has entered the chat…

Calling out not only the preemptive use of the notwithstanding clause but also the limited debate as threats to the rule of law.

Why All Vaccines Should Be Free | The Tyee COVID-19 normalized vaccination for adults, and we should go further to protect people from shingles and RSV.

Canada's economy is still struggling due to Trump's tariffs and inflation in Canada must not be a huge concern because they decreased the interest rate today.

A lower interest rate results in future economic growth.

Canada's future is full of opportunity

Dutch centrist liberals under Jetten head for shock election win, exit poll says Rob Jetten's D66 party celebrates, two years after his party languished in fifth place in the last vote.

Looking like the election in the Netherlands has taken an interesting turn if the first exit poll is anything to go by.

The Far Right’s Geert Wilders has already conceded.

Alberta’s now the first jurisdiction to use the notwithstanding clause to take away the right to collective bargaining.

The kids will go back to school tomorrow -but what’s the future for workers’ rights across Canada? I wrote about that here: mbpintelligence.com/blog/phillips-…

Alberta is the richest province in the country β€” except where it really counts How does the province with the highest fiscal capacity in the country also have the lowest per-capita funding for students in its public schools? Because it wants it that way

Alberta is the wealthiest province in Confederation, but you'd never know that by looking at the way it funds its public schools and their students. At some point, voters might want to think about what that says β€” and means β€” @maxfawcett.bsky.social writes.

And since this use of the notwithstanding clause involves Alberta, it is perhaps relevant to note the three caveats/conditions that Peter Lougheed, a proponent of the notwithstanding clause, proposed in 1991.

Screenshot of figure showing correlation between vaccine doses and reports of ASD.l, to which I added another line showing maternal intake of pumpkin spice products.

The legend says Figure 2. Autism Prevalence and Cumulative Vaccine Doses Through the Second Birthday, 1970-2018. The number of vaccine doses recommended for U.S. children by age two (green triangles) is plotted alongside autism prevalence estimates per 10,000 children (blue squares), derived from both early epidemiologic studies (pre-2000) and CDC ADDM Network reports (2000 onward). Polynomial trend lines demonstrate strong parallel increases in cumulative vaccine exposure during early childhood and the reported prevalence of autism across successive birth cohorts. Permission to use this figure was obtained from Children's Health Defense.?9

This is a figure from disgraced physician Peter McCullough’s report claiming that vaccines cause autism.

The red line, added by me, depicts maternal consumption of pumpkin spice products.

His group still does not understand correlation vs causation.
