The true value of money and the economy is in its mobility, it's a system that thrives on usage and reach. We do not tend to reward stagnation or accumulation in other systems - like a blood supply or electrical system, it enriches through movement, circularity.

@richardjmurphy.bsky.social makes the inescapable point that the wealthy are not all wealth-creators and that if they choose domecility on grounds of the fiscal advantages to themselves not others then we don't lose if they leave.

Donald Trump, a weak and dangerously reckless president, has put the United States on a path to a war in the Middle East that the country does not want, the law does not allow, and our security does not demand.

Rooftop solar can be torn out of capital’s hands Decentralised solar has the potential to support co-operative, municipal and other forms of community ownership and control.

Big coorporations currently own most of the world's solar capacity - but local solar has the power to change all that. | @simonpirani.bsky.social

Bar chart showing actual methane emission from the Permian oil field several times higher than industry reported emissions.

We have always relied on the oil and gas industry to self-report methane emissions. Now we have independent ways to of measuring those emissions and it turns out they were lying about the emissions. By a lot. The blue lines are actual measurements. The pink are industry numbers.

UK Gov just announced that it will publish a Public Participation in Climate Strategy next year. This is *really* big news coming out of UK Gov’s formal response to the CCC’s progress report.

Another really great example of lots of brilliant teams and people working hard to tackle climate change.

My research, and that of my colleagues, shows that we can achieve good lives for all within planetary boundaries.
Our research (and reality) also exposes how those profiting from inequality, violence & plunder are doing EVERYTHING in their power to prevent us from getting there.

Households want to see that the benefit to installing heat pumps, solar panels or insulation is a reduction in energy bills. This is what our Warm Homes Plan will deliver.

The UK public supports a shift to increasingly decentralised energy systems (within reason). However, scaling up/out local energy systems will require careful public engagement to ensure that they are designed in ways that work for people.
