I resigned as well, for all the same reasons.

For NIH proposals, when are we thinking the "DOGE review" happens? After Council or before?

This may be old news at this point, but my R35 which was scheduled to be at council in early Feb, now is scheduled for council on 5/22. I guess we're losing an entire cycle. @jeremymberg.bsky.social @altnih4science.bsky.social

When universities say that they are highly "tuition dependent", what they are (usually) really saying is that they are highly dependent on the Department of Education's processing and provisioning of student financial aid. The impacts of RIF are going to be bad, to put it mildly.

Exclusive: Science and tech agency cuts spark industry pushback As Trump administration cuts hit research, some fear American leadership in computer science is at risk.

"I want parents who have children to know that opportunities for your kids, if they aspire to be scientists or engineers, are being stripped away right in front of you," the NSF employee told Axios.

My heart breaks to let amazingly talented PhD applicants know that I can't take them on in this current funding scenario shitstorm. I am so sorry :( I wish I could.

USDA halts more than $100M in funding for University of Maine System programs The move temporarily pauses USDA funding for Maine's university system after President Donald Trump threatened to cut off the state over Maine's decision to allow transgender athletes to compete in sp...

I'm appalled by the USDA's decision to pause funding to the University of Maine System.

This will hurt our farmers, halt critical research, and impact students throughout Maine.

Once again, our state is being targeted for retributionβ€”all because our officials are standing up for the rule of law.

Has anyone been notified of a new NSF award after 1/20/25? While panels are convening, not sure if awards are being made.

NSF panels are meeting, GREAT! But are they making funding decisions and notifying PIs? Just wondering if we will see something like what we are seeing as the emerging strategy at NIH where grants may be reviewed but no funding decisions are made.
