I just discovered that new adaptation of War of the Worlds.. holy shit. The trailer should tell you enough, but seeing clips from scenes made me yell "WHAT!" out loud. It's all viewed from one computer screen and is basically one big advertisement for Amazon with the acting quality of a school play.

Before we got GTA in 3D we had "Driver". A game taking place in the 60's/70's that focused on driving missions and inevitable car chases through the streets of Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York City. it also had a full replay editor where u could direct your own car chase scenes.

There are rumor's that Heretic and Hexen might be the next two games that receive the Nightdive "remaster" update during QuakeCon. Previous years we got Quake, Quake II and Doom I + II. Usually it's a free upgrade for owners of the original games on platforms like Steam. Guess I'll play them again.

The indie FPS games market has been really big on the maze-map boomer shooters. But I really hope there will be be some more Half-Likes in the coming years. I was already sad that Phantom Fury wasn't able to do what I hoped it would.

Today I started finalizing audio/sounds for Project JP. Something I was a bit worried about as I wanted spatial sound. I'm now applying the distance fade trick I used for the waterfall and river and it works well so far. Soon to be applied to the animals as well.

Still going through levels I never played in the classic Doom 1 + 2 package. Just finished The Master Levels for Doom II for the first time. Actually some great creative levels with only a few lesser quality maps. Still not a fan of limited-opportunity secrets. "TNT Evilution" is next on the list...

It's true. Team Silent was sooo good at that. it's something we never really got again when Konami started to outsource Silent Hill games.

Ah... progress. Smart. They're going to try and make Battlefield 6 as easy to get into as possible, breaking any small barrier (topical) that might get in the way of a good first beta impression and successful launch.

The Marketing for some of the far off projects has been paper thin. It's way too early to have anything solid to show but somehow they think bits like this will get the nerds to salute. Oh I'm sure someone is frame-analyzing this thing, but jeeez...

Now *there's* a game that it could use a remaster and/or PC port (together with 4). One of my favorite race games of all time.

Hard to not pick my personal favorites. But they didn't start my love for their specific genre or series. These were my fire starters, five games that have had various degrees of impact on my taste in video games today.

Well #Battlefield6 looks like a modern Battlefield game alright. It's definitely going back to the BF3/4 style and a big focus on destruction. And I like little features like dragging people into cover. Doing open beta is going to be great for people to do performance testing as well.
