I think the article (deliberately) makes a key mistake.

This isn’t that non-conforming women will be harassed, it is that every woman can be. When you rely on the faulty judgement of individuals and the proportion of the outsider group is low you will mostly have false positives.

Not why is it called Wednesday, but why did someone choose an anchor day of the week such that today is Wednesday and not some other day?

I think that was more to do with the broader changes QS introduced that year. I was somewhat surprised QS hadn't spotted the huge anglophone leap (and consequential drops) and done some self-correction

I don’t think Korean progress is all that surprising:
1) Ban Ki-Moon was the UN Secretary-General who introduced the SDGs
2) When Korea decides to do something they tend to act decisively! They got rid of a corrupt President overnight… other nations find that impossible
