Blended social interaction and learning framework. A 3x3 grid based on the dimensions of time and space. Vertical Axis (Time): Categorized into: Same time, Blended time, and Different time Horizontal Axis (Space): Categorized into: Same space, Blended space, and Distributed space. The framework includes four diagonal arrows pointing to the corners and two vertical arrows pointing to the top and bottom, representing the spectrum of interaction: Top Left: High human interaction. Top Right: High social fidelity. Bottom Left: Low social fidelity. Bottom Right: Low human interaction. Each of the nine cells contains a specific combination of time and space. Same time / Same space: People sitting around a physical table. Blended time / Blended space: People in a physical room and remote participants interacting with a digital whiteboard. Different time / Different space: Distributed individuals interacting with content independently at various times and locations.
💭 How do you report the dialogue and learning during #co-production and #co-design?
Is the dialogue always held around a table?

Here are 5 top tips for bringing lived experience into commissioning spaces, from Isaac Samuels OBE:
1. Show up as yourself because real honesty is what changes the room.
2. Invest in relationships because co-production only works when trust grows.

Hi 👋 bluesky! Here, in the below is some of my work in codesign and coproduction from working in mental health care research. The participatory zeitgiest here mh.bmj.com/content/45/3... presents a theoretical model of the relational transitions that help understand how things work in co-design 👇

Or indeed if you know of a starter pack I've missed

What are the essential elements for #codesign & #coproduction?
🎬 A 1 minute summary

A chart showing the highest chance of seen the aurora for years. Another chart showing 100% cloud cover. Eyes rolling to convey that the author fully believed that he would get to see the Aurora after moving to Sweden, only for the UK to get many more spectacular displays since 2017. The authors went to bed full to the brim of jealousy and spite.

Rather than rely on a single word to convey a complex process, consider how to apply the values and principles of co-production in combination with the key elements identified.
We learned that rather than rely on a single word or method to convey a complex process, we can consider how to apply the values and principles of co-production in combination with these "essential elements".
With the #intention for authenticity, these can be applied to a wide range of approaches
We learned that there needs to be interaction between the "essential elements" identified. An iterative, repeating interaction between Engagement, Alignment & Agreement The three circles previously discussed are presented. The wheels have arrows around them to suggest motion, allowing for dialogue to interact with all the other essential elements. Even if only brief, interaction between these "essential elements" is needed for co-design and co-production
We learned that even if only brief, there needs to be an iterative, repeating interaction between #Engagement, #Alignment & #Agreement in context
Dialogue & documentation (alignment) is central to this interaction
Agreement Those involved reaching a broad consensus A means towards discovery of a new view. Those involved reaching a broad consensus Alignment and agreement allow us to work towards a common vision. All of these essential elements requires interaction in context. (explained in the next picture)
By #agreement, we mean those involved reaching a broad consensus
#Dialogue on interpretation & understanding is a means towards discovery of a new view.
#Alignment and #agreement allow us to work towards a common vision.
These "essential elements" require interaction in #context.
Understanding The mutual comprehension and insights gained. Achieved through dialogue on interpretation. Shared understanding is an important step towards Agreement (explained on the next picture)
The continued #dialogue on #interpretation of our #SharedUnderstanding is an essential elements towards an #Agreement
This is not linear. This is not map to follow. This is not the complete picture.
This agreement may just be on "what are our guiding values?"
Interpretation Making sense of the documented dialogue and expressed views A moment to reflect on what has taken place Interpretation can be independent though it requires interaction with alignment in order to lead to understanding (explained on the next picture)
We learned that for #coproduction there needs to be moments to reflect on what has taken place.
Making sense of #documented #dialogue and expressed views (interpretation) can be a separate part altogether, though it requires further interaction with #alignment in order to lead to #understanding
Alignment The bringing together views or ideas A circle is split into two halves is presented. On one half is dialogue, the other half is documentation. The interaction of which leads to alignment. Central to co-production is dialogue. With documentation, we capture dialogue and can begin to align expressed views and ideas through interpretation.
We learned that central to #coproduction is the interaction between #dialogue & #documentation
Through the bringing together of views or ideas and documentation of these, we can begin to #align expressed views and ideas.
We need to have continued dialogue on the #interpretation of documentation.
Documentation Capturing divergent views ensures voices are heard. An opportunity to reflect on views expressed. Documenting dialogue allows us to review decisions, clarify interpretation and report transparently.
What is also essential is that we #document the #dialogue
Capturing divergent views ensures voices are heard and provides an opportunity to reflect on views expressed.
Documenting dialogue allows us to review decisions, clarify interpretation and report transparently.
Dialogue Exploration of ideas & views with mutuality and insight Dialogue is central to co-production. Divergence of views allows us to go beyond one-way knowledge extraction to knowledge sharing
We learned that #dialogue is not only important, but it is central to co-production.
There needs to be exploration of ideas & views with mutuality and insight
It is through divergence of views which allows us to go beyond one-way knowledge extraction to knowledge sharing
Reflection on intentions andassets to create a conducive environment for meaningful engagement A circle split into two halves with two essential elements for engagement: intention and assets. But to co-produce, these essential elements need interaction with dialogue (text continues into the next image)
Through #reflection on #intentions & #assets, we can begin create a conducive environment for meaningful #engagement
But to co-produce, these essential elements need interaction with #dialogue.
We need to talk about our intentions. We need to talk about the assets in the room.
Assets Consideration of strengths, opportunities & possibilities Reflect on what is needed to enhance and build upon the assets in the room What resources can we work with to make this happen?
Nothing worth having comes easy. While we focus on essential elements (mechanisms), #coproduction is not simple.
Consider our opportunities - what resources can we work with to make #coproduction happen?
Reflect on what is needed to enhance & build upon the assets in the room.
Intention. Any toolbox can become a tickbox. Our reasoning will influence our behaviour. Are we willing to learn from what we hear or are we hoping to hear what we've already learned?
In a scoping review exploring definitions of #coproduction, we learned that the WHY is more important that the WHAT

In this review, we find the WHY can help us to decide on the HOW.
Any toolbox can become a tickbox. Any method can be meaningful.
