Climbing a flight of stairs when I had long COVID didn't feel like climbing a flight of stairs when I was very tired but otherwise healthy, or even like climbing a flight of stairs when I had the flu. It felt like climbing a flight of stairs with a 50lb weight strapped to each limb.

Before long COVID, "fatigue" meant "I'm tired and sluggish. Getting through the day takes more energy than usual. I'll push through, put off tasks that aren't time-sensitive, and then rest."
During long COVID, fatigue meant "should I climb stairs or take a shower today, because I can't do both?"

"Yet the name of the disease makes it sound no more serious than tiredness or burnoutβnothing a good rest wouldnβt fix. This may sound like a trivial complaint..."
It might have sounded like a trivial complaint to me before I experienced fatigue from long COVID. It no longer does.

I guess I shouldn't be *shocked* that "it's wrong for the US to execute serial killers but it's fine for Venezuela to execute capitalists" is a political position that is held by actual human people, but I confess that here I am

I like how Canada needs to have a draft from which Americans such as himself are presumably exempt by virtue of 1) being too old, and 2) doing the equally-important job of writing words about fascism

Yes, and if this is an American culture war, well, they started it? So many of our DEI materials were created by and for Americans. The ones about anti-Black racism in particular are geared at a country whose Black population 15% of the total and largely descended from slaves. Not the case in Canada
