Some of the Western protesters, as Phoebe said, want Hamas to win. Those who don't, take two things for granted: 1) the Israeli government puts no value on Palestinian lives, & 2) we can't expect Hamas to make choices that prioritize Palestinian lives (ie, releasing the hostages and surrendering)

That last part - failure to bend Israel to one's will - is why I don't discuss Israeli politics with most people. Israel doesn't care what I think, so any question about what I think is really just about which box the person asking the question can put me in.

Riffing off of this - there are large peace protests attended by tons of Jews - in Israel. There have also been a handful of pro-Palestinian, anti-war, explicitly anti-Hamas protests in Gaza. Protests in the diaspora are a completely different animal.

I just finished my round of antibiotics for Lyme disease. By all appearances, they've done their job, so yay. What happens if I experience symptoms a week or so from now? Would a pharmacist renew the prescription or would I be in for a round of tests or similar?
