Deep crack in the windshield. Stupid gravel and wrong place, wrong time.

….about an hour after writing this, while driving, I hear a very loud *ping* on the windshield.

In the grand scheme of things? No big deal, but absolutely feels like someone laughing at my expense.

Two steps forward, one step back is still moving forward, Dangit!

I think I haven’t played in about as long! It’s such a good game, just takes a lot of commitment to dive back into.

This year has been wild for me. It’s a mix of extreme sadness about the state of the world, intermixed with bursts of joy from fatherhood and righteous determination from trying to self improve before 40.

This last week, I think I’m swinging out of a few months depression into Go Mode. Feels good!

1. I think it is fucking wild we have to have laws about this however
2. If we need laws about it then I’m glad people are starting to get them out there

As I send out a hopeful submission email for a convention, I check my emails and find I got a rejection letter for a book open submission contest I entered at the start of the year.

You know what? Awesome. It’s my first rejection letter, because I was finally brave enough to try. Let’s keep going!

Sometimes snapping out of depression is a joyous experience, where you suddenly hear heavenly beings singing and food tastes good again.

Other times, it’s slapping yourself on the face and finally having the energy to clean your email inbox and surroundings.

We had a good #boardgame night last night! Played multiple rounds of “This Game Is Killer” by @smirkanddagger.bsky.social, Twilight Struggle, Innovation, and even brought out VAST: The Mysterious Manor! Good times had by all.

This whole situation doesn't feel great, and it sucks that its happening at all. I do hope people boycott and don't support hate speech - I feel like learning what your money goes to support is something that gamers across the board should get good at these days.
