I actually disagree with that. I think most people donating to athletic programs are aware that it will go toward athletic investments, not the school's general fund.

Point being, I don't think it's a sound assumption that most donations made to athletic funds would otherwise go to academics.

Collegiate athletic budgets are essentially marketing. I 100% agree that society should have better priorities when it comes to donating large sums of money, but at least when it comes to large public institutions, athletic marketing is usually a net positive for the university.

Because a podcast featuring reasonable people talking politics wouldn’t get nearly as much attention.

There are definitely lots of MAGAs that think like this, and these two parents may be among those. But this podcast is schtick.

Bill it as a revitalization campaign and a jobs program.

Part of the problem is that so few of the reporters in the WHPC are actually "reporters" anymore. Most are people that prioritize their invites to the elites' cocktail parties and/or unabashed propagandists.

That's an incredible deal for the criminals. They either get away with everything and get to live out their days in their overseas palaces, or they just give back what they've stolen and get a mulligan?
