Los Angeles County declares state of emergency over immigration raids Los Angeles County officials voted on Tuesday to declare a state of emergency over ongoing federal immigration raids.

To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

The Trump Regime is currently stripping the Department of Education for parts, starting with the most vulnerable children in our country.

They hate your children. If this makes you angry, you better start calling your representatives ASAP.

Unions better organize. National strikes. NOW!

Public education will be thrown into complete chaos. The most vulnerable will suffer the most.

Which is of course, also their intended results.

Maximizing suffering is their plan. Dismantling and privatizing education is their goal. It's been happening for decades; this is a huge excelleration.

Without Federal Oversight, IDEA protections will begin to be eroded on a State by State basis. Blue states will also feel the pain as we have no idea what cutting the Department of Education, cuts to IDEA and Title departments will affect future funding and services.

Laws that are not enforced or properly implemented are rendered impotent without ever needing to change the law. This is of course, their intent. They couldn't repeal IDEA without huge backlash, instead they plan to make it toothless and strip Special Education for copper.

While IDEA is STILL the law of the land, firing all Federal workers who are tasked to uphold, implement, and oversee its effectiveness would almost completely undermine and hobble the protections that it affords!

IDEA is the most fundamental federal protection for children with disabilities. It is what IEP's fall under. It is how we guarantee that ALL children are afforded an education.

Trump instigated this entirely on his own. You don’t overrun a state’s National Guard without a request from that state, that’s a violation of constitutional limits. He manufactured a crisis.

I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE.

Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it.

Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

I'd much rather be scammed by some poor mom trying to feed her kids than the richest man in the world trying to add to his own wealth, but maybe I'm a sap.

Almost 250 preventable deaths due to starvation and lack of medical supplies so far. these numbers will rise radically in the coming days.
