That’s why I want to see people pick up “March.” [They will see] we never gave up. We didn’t get lost in a sea of despair. We kept the faith. We kept pushing and pulling. We kept marching. And we made some progress. And when people tell me nothing has changed, I just feel like saying, “Come and walk in my shoes.” Our struggle is a struggle to redeem the soul of America. Back in 2016, I interviewed the late, legendary Congressman John Lewis for @salon.com about his brilliant graphic-memoir series "March," co-written with @natepowell.bsky.social and @andrewaydin.bsky.social, who also joined the interview.

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

Sorry, I get REALLY mad about this, because I have friends whose lives and careers would be in much better places had they not been fleeced by their publishing partners. So many administrative-side folks claim to love the medium but don't golden rule the folks who make it, and who trust them.
