The Onion Fellowship at The Onion

Hi! The Onion is bringing back our Writing Fellowship.

The fellowship has produced some of the biggest names in comedy, at The Onion and elsewhere.

It was a casualty private equity. We are reviving it.

The program is six months long and includes health insurance.

Statement from The Onion Union that reads: On April 25th, 2024, The Onion was sold by G/O Media to a new media company by the name of Global Tetrahedron. Global Tetrahedron chose to retain every employee, including The Onion Union’s 11 remaining members, voluntarily recognized our union, and agreed to abide by our current contract.

Management was willing to work with the union to provide overdue promotions and raises where they were most needed. We believe that this is the first of many good things to come, and are optimistic about the future. We look forward to working with new management to continue fostering a fair and equitable workplace.

No you’re right it’s definitely a good trend and my β€œchanging methodologies” point was just wrong -seems like the last time was in 94.

I do think the underlying trends of underemployment and workers being dissuaded from searching for work still hold tho

Unemployment stats do undercount underemployment and worker dissuasion. Obv, great to see these stats improving but they’re not necessarily indicative of the full picture imo, especially as we change the definition of unemployment over time

I am begging everyone to watch Scavengers Reign when it releases on Netflix May 31st.

Yes, streaming is the devil but this show is something special and the more eyes on it will not only get to see probably the best scifi animated series ever made but will help get it another season.

Even When a Cop Is Killed With an Illegally Purchased Gun, the Gun Store’s Name Is Kept Secret

A 2003 law pushed by the gun industry shields gun shops from public scrutiny, but ProPublica was able to identify the store that sold the gun used in the shooting of a Chicago police officer.
