Aren't most people coming to platforms like Bluesky specifically to get away from Facebook/Instagram?

It has its ups and downs. Traveling 24 miles just to get to the library can be a pain in the butt, but the traffic is non-existent.

Fun time yesterday getting interviewed at my local NPR affiliate! Along with fellow authors Madi Love and Gustave Carlson, we promoted the Local Author Open House that's coming up on Dec 6 at the Fayetteville Public library. Writers who like to talk to the public: We really are a thing.

As kids growing up in the US South in the 1960s, part of our back-to-school ritual every August was de-worming after spending the summer playing in fields covered in cow shit, picking food off the vine and eating it, and raw milk at meals. All very Norman Rockwell, yeah, but ... parasites.

The irony here is that consumption of pornography tends to be heaviest in the most conservative states, such as Texas, Alabama, Louisiana, etc.

What's a female/gender-neutral analog to the term "hitman"? "Hitperson" is just ridiculous, and "hitwoman" sounds like a failed 1960's superhero franchise. I mean, what does a woman who kills people for a living put on her business cards? (Asking for a friend.)

I have a cat. I also have a mouse. I don't know how it got here, and it defies my efforts to capture it, but I discovered last night that it is eating out of the cat food dish. While the cat sits by and waits her turn. You had one job, Margaret Catwood. One job. WE ARE NOT AMUSED.

I did that yesterday, in conversation with someone. I stood there struggling to describe the function of the machine in question, and the person I was talking to looked at me for a moment, then said, "You mean 'teakettle'?" The conversation didn't thrive after that.
