Iβve lived through the cost of losing ground. Iβve seen the bodies, the destroyed homes, and Iβve been tortured by Russia like so many others. Land is never βjust land.β Itβs people. Families. Lives shattered.

Any chance you could send me the report/publication on that, when you have a minute?
Yes. Remember it like it was yesterday. Had the camera bag on my belly, raincoat closed around it, looking like I was heavily pregnant.
Remember also finding yew branches in the trackway, thought they were modern roots, they were so tough and elastic, in contrast to the rest of the soggy wood
Gonna be in Belfast this weekend
"Measuring Tree Rings - Mapping Journeys"
Remember folks. The original bluesky ethos by us bluesky elders (apparently I count?) is block and move on.
Don't quote dunk, don't pick fights.
Block, and move on.
This is what made this site unpalatable to the right early on, and we can continue to make it unpalatable to them.
Sunrise. The sun just before it broke the horizon, over a flat danish landscape. Orange clouds.

Just a little reminder. Our Special Issue 'Dendrochronology and Knowledge of the Human Past'. Several papers online, and more being reviewed. But we decided to extend the paper submission deadline to the end of the year. Looking forward to your paper (detail from Ringsaker, photo: Aoife Daly).

23.08.2025 07:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me? Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

To date, I know of FOUR kids who were saved after someone who'd clicked on the link learnt how to spot actual drowning. Take time to read and pass on.
