Oh I bet it works great for appliquรฉ! I havenโ€™t done much of that yet. Mostly focused on quilts and clothes.

Todayโ€™s achievement, if it can be called that. Copied a thrifted McCallโ€™s pattern to try out.

Going to work on a woven button-down short sleeved shirt today... hopefully the pattern I picked up at the thrift store has all the pieces :)

Sorry I've been quiet on here for a bit. Work has been... miserable. Trying to get back into sewing for sanity... but yesterday I almost lost my mind trying to topstitch a jersey t-shirt. Not sure why I'm having so much trouble with knits on the sewing machine(serger works great tho).

A slightly incorrect deer.

Looking really good! I havenโ€™t tried English paper piecing but I love hexies so really need to give it a try!

So in the past 3 weeks I've made a pair of pajama shorts, a button down shirt, and a dog shirt. I really want to post pictures of the finished garments but don't want myself in the photos.... still trying to figure out how to do that.

Wow, these are so beautiful. I love the details and your fabrics. Looks amazing!

Don't watch the machine sew, watch the fabric enter the needle plate and make sure the seam allowance stays consistent there and it'll be right at the needle.

I think 2 of these were on my list as possibly good options. Thanks for the recommendations(I should have solicited them but didn't want to impose :) )

Thanks very much for confirming that. Now I feel empowered to spend the money on them. Very exciting :)

Haven't read the books but have heard really good things. Looking forward to the show but conflicted over whether I should read/listen to the books first.

I've been looking for pattern drafting books and resources, the ones that seem good seem very expensive(they may be textbooks).

Better Homes & Gardens makes really good sewing and quilting books!

+1 to this. I believe that the open office floorplan raises my anxiety level like 10% or something because I never get to feel like I'm alone or have my own space. I miss being remote to be honest.

A wrinkly muslin of half a shirt front in white.

Ended up cutting a muslin for a shirt again. But been busy today so not sure I'm going to do any more sewing tonight. Did just get some brownies in the oven though so that should be a tasty regret.

Got the red owl finished! pics show each owl with the machine they were sewn on. Really fun and chill way to make a quilt block but definitely a lot of wasted fabric. Fortunately all my FPP fabric is thrifted!

Next up adding sashing and making quilt block rows. Might start that tomorrow...

This makes sense to me, thanks for sharing! Your work is really inspiring to me to keep learning how to make garments.

Do you sew the muslin together by machine or do you hand baste it? Always been curious about the process.
