You do not, in fact, have to "hand it to" someone who murdered a million Iraqis under a false pretext, let a major American city drown, and destroyed the international economy.

If you format a hard drive, the data is gone . . . but not really. Laymen couldn’t retrieve it; IT pros know what to do to get it back.

To really destroy data you have to do a DOD wipe—overwrite 0s multiple times—or expose the disk to a very powerful magnetic field. Either action shows intent.

To the extent that they’re real assets that could also benefit different owners, lowering their price *is* redistributive. Also, considering how many of the 1% have been using their wealth to impact policy & society, reducing that wealth would be a social positive in its own right.
