This is a NIRCam (Near-Infrared Camera) image from the James Webb Space Telescope of the "Cosmic Cliffs" in the Carina Nebula. The image is dominated by textured formations of gas and dust in warm tones of orange, brown, and gold, resembling a rugged cliff face. Bright, star-forming regions are visible within the cliffs, glowing with a soft light. The top portion of the image shows a transition to a deep blue, star-filled space. Numerous distinct stars are scattered throughout the image, some displaying a starburst effect from the telescope's optics.

Distance 500 light years
Once a normal spiral galaxy it collided perfectly (bulls eye) with another galaxy who's shock wave created this unique structure.
This dim and distant world is the farthest planet from the Sun, about 30 times farther away than planet Earth.
Details of the complex ring system are seen here for the first time since Neptune was visited by the Voyager 2 spacecraft in August 1989.

A young star-forming region is filled with wispy orange, red, and blue layers of gas and dust. The upper left corner of the image is filled with mostly orange dust, and within that orange dust, there are several small red plumes of gas that extend from the top left to the bottom right, at the same angle. The center is filled with mostly blue gas. At the center, there is one particularly bright star that has an hourglass shadow above and below it. To the right of that is what looks a vertical eye-shaped crevice with a bright star at the center. The gas to the right of the crevice is a darker orange. Small points of light are sprinkled across the field, brightest stars in the field have extensive eight-pointed diffraction spikes.
Stars form in super-cold clouds of gas and dust. Gas clumps collide, and build mass, eventually collapsing to form stars.
