Oh those are a joke. I mean like actual agri tech aka GM crops and consumer facing ag biotech. Anything beyond seed, sun, and soil is a grift in most cases. Very few examples of sensible improvement in cost but never scale.

Majority of crop grown in the US are genetically modified. Over 90% of all corn acreage is GM. There is no such thing as traditional agriculture. We can't negotiate with locusts and blight. We can only fight back with science.

Is it that agricultural biotech doesn't scale fast enough or are some investors not actually into disrupting anything meaningful?

They swarm around the wound site and make a biofilm. The cells express RFP as a tracer to compare against any contamination that may arise. RFP stays inside cells.

Im trying this thing where I use floral dip buffer (with silwet added) as the co-culture buffer for when exposing leaf disks to agrobacterium. My thinking is it helps bring agro closer to wounded tissue by breaking surface tension on hairly leaf bits. Gonna try a few times n see.

How very predictable. All that talk about disruption and technoutopia, only to be spineless against a government who thinks themselves a dictatorship. Wildly un-American.

Not really. Whatever is in my pipes grows slowly and has not been an issue. I could swap for black pots but i dont want to disturb roots to check water level or design a sensing system with redundancy. Algae also oxygenate the stagnant water so win win :)

Does anyone know if nanopores can read cyclobutane bonded thymines? The kind that UVC causes. Would love to send some in-vitro zapped plasmids to @plasmidsaurus.bsky.social and see if it can detect the TT, TC, and rarer CC dimers. Could be a fun way to mutagenize if transformed in darkness.
