I don't even post anything on LI, but I did this just to help the "how many people hate this as a concept" dashboard that I know some PM is looking at.

In my first memories of it as a kid it was empty due to the drought, and then for a while it was running, and then at some point it got turned off but left full of standing water, which is all around the worst option from an olfactory perspective.

When the water was actually running I always loved walking through it. A strangely serene little stroll in the midst of the downtown bustle, screened by white noise. With stagnant water it's... not the same.

Adding this one to my "prez AOC day 1" wishlist.

Even in blue states, cops seem to mostly be cheering this kind of thing on, presumably because it serves to normalize LEOs getting to do whatever they want to citizens without oversight. I can't imagine the average red state cop has any stronger sense of civic duty.

At the end of the day, Ezra Klein has to learn to live with the rest of us, even if we have disagreements on specific issues. The important thing is that we can discuss those disagreements the right way.

I had a boss back in 2018 who enthused to me in a 1:1 about what a genius and role model Elon was, to which I nodded agreeably while thinking "how embarrassing for you". I periodically have to resist the urge to message him on LinkedIn and say "so how 'bout that Elon?"
