The future is not linear. It will not be glossy or slick. It will not be covered in lights.
It will not be purple, orange, and teal.
The future is unthinkable with the brains and concepts we hold today.
Train yourself now. Set yourself up for surprises several times every day. Break routines.

To sum up, we cannot afford to be precious in this time. We need to move from vigilance to preparedness. Use our imaginations.
Side note: I can hear Greta Gerwig as Tracy in Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs giving this speech. So close.

In the future, there might be academies that support citizen scientists. No academic affiliation required. Faculty/masters are generously paid with public funds, of course.
These academies are nodes in an ecological system that borrow and share their work, immediately successful/applicable or not.

Now that the US pulled off a second fabulous #NoKings demo, it's high time to work on the YES vision.
If not going back is consensus, what does going forward look and feel like? Not just ideals. Visions. Lots of them.

I questioned that, and got a milquetoast response. And I was exhausted. So the car was repaired, but I've not forgotten how that insurance company lied to me.

Their reply said no, it's not totalled. The paper showed a fully-loaded car: sunroof, air conditioning, radio, leather seats, fancy tires - everything the car could have had but didn't. So they said the car was worth more than the damage.

A few weeks of ownership in, the car was t-boned. I sent a claim into the other guy's insurance company. The car is totalled, right?

When I was in my 20s and struggling, I bought my first new car because the interest rate (13%!) was much lower than for a used car. + I had had enough of super old cars.
It was completely feature-free. Not even a radio.

US law claims that corporations are people. You know what they say about people: they remember how you make them feel.
So here's a message to corporations: people you screw over when they are young will never forget it. /1

"'A few thousand' people March along the Old Santa Fe Trail...". No official estimated count offered in the article and online comments ridiculed the paper for downplaying the actual vast crowd.
