There’s so much to say about Chris Bidmead’s Dr Who. Its pleasing coldness, its determination to turn maths into drama, its victory over the chaos and entropy that plagued his predecessor. Traken/Logopolis/Castrovalva are all one story, aren’t they? His Master’s Masterplan. RIP

Woke this morning to learn of Chris Bidmead’s passing. The man responsible for my break into TV, and my unwitting entry into a global family in which I’ve remained to this day. For both of which, I’m forever grateful. Vale Chris

Raising a glass to Christopher H Bidmead, who brought big ideas and magic moments to Doctor Who, and commissioned writers like Christopher Bailey, @andr3wsmith.bsky.social and @stephengallagher.co.uk. A playfully cantankerous persona never quite masked a deep intelligence and a kind, generous soul.

I went to see @benaaronovitch.bsky.social doing a highly entertaining Q&A at Hornchurch library today, and completely by chance, ended up sitting next to @kjd42.bsky.social. An afternoon of Rivers of London with added Hitchhikers.
