Empty blazing star flower stems sticking out of leaf cluttered landscaping.

Blazing star flower stems, full of sees. Alongside foxglove and black eyed Susans. Guess appearance by holiday decor.

Blazing stars in the back? Demolished. Gone. Just their bare stems reminding me where they are.

Blazing stars in the front? Near untouched. Not the same. Full of seeds that will begin to blanket more of my yard next year.

Let the software engineer in me take over and decide starting is better than continuing research. The fly rod now has fly string and a leader. Practice and small pond ready.

I have the "messiest" looking yard in my neighborhood, but also the greenest and most full of wildlife. My neighbors be missing out. The town officials also complemented my introduction of natives too. :D

Cracked open the tying book (and youtube) to try and Cahill fly. Used the materials I had on hand - not bad for a first attempt.

I've used flies in a 4 foot ultra light over bluegill spawning beds for fun, but never truly fly fished. I'm excited to try it.

"I don't think I will ever get into fly fishing." I then proceeded to dig out my fly tying kit from 23 years ago all because I inherited a pole from a relative.

Guess I will be getting into fly fishing after all.
