For the next instance: yet again

Too many of us are missing the benefits of walking Even in good weather in parts of the Twin Cities with nice sidewalks and close destinations, people aren't walking as much as they could.

I wrote about whether people in the Twin Cities simply lack the culture and habit of walking to places. (I think we do.) Here are some tips from two avid pedestrians.

#OnThisDay: Oct 5, 1869: Efforts to extract more waterpower at St Anthony Falls nearly end in catastrophe when the 2000' Eastman Tunnel collapses, almost taking the entire waterfall and the Minneapolis economy with it. Frantic initial efforts and 10 more years of Army Corps work finally stabilize it

If you circle the large block off Fairview and Minnehaha Avenue in St. Paul, you’ll note a chain-link fence. The barbed wire has since been cut off, but gate number signs remain at a few spots.

Here’s the other side of the building. So much happened in this building and a few that surrounded it in the 1940s-60s: Navy codebreakers stationed here, Waco gliders assembled, the start of ERA and early hard drive technology. This spawned many spinoffs in the computer industry.
