All that to say: don't be too comfortable judging others or claiming to know who 'the bad guys' are. I have had to look into the mirror and see that I have made all these people richer and more powerful. We (podcasters, marketers, ..) don't get a free pass from this just because we're in the EU...

This always gets me on my soapbox because, to me, it means that the lack of standing up to Spotify's profiting from hate back then...means that progressive podcasters were part of the chain of events that got us here now. I expected a mass revolt from other, large podcasters. There was none.

It is too easy to mock the US or say that things have changed rapidly over there. It is happening here too and it has been for a while. Many young people listen to toxic content here too, and some people profit from it. European people as well. Again, Spotify *paid* Rogan for content.

I feel like we, Europeans, should remember that Spotify is a European company that paid for and profited from Joe Rogan's harmful content. Rogan was already spreading hate and racism when that deal was signed. We did not demand better from Spotify at that time and we still don't.

As for me, I have a road ahead to some form of recovery. I know I can’t see what that will be like in the end. I hope I get to write fiction again and record my work. I think I will be able to, even if it is with more effort. First, though, I need to adjust and accept and heal. No mud, not lotus ❤️

Mostly, I wanted to share this because I want people to know about FDN. It is often missed. It was missed on my first ER trip too… People who have it without knowing it, might really need to see this website neurosymptoms.org/en/

I still can’t think about my stories or write fiction. I can’t access that part of my brain, it seems. And I can’t read out loud the things I have already written. My mind just freezes and my lips don’t move. I have hope I will get better, but I am trying to just accept things as they are as well.

Throughout this ordeal, I have stayed calm and tried not to fight any of this. I found great strength and inspiration in my spiritual practice. But today, while looking into pausing my subscribers’s billing, it kind of…Not hit me, but.. It sank in. My life has changed a lot in a short time.

For about 16 hours I couldn’t say anything. I would have the words in my mind, but my lips wouldn’t move. Slowly, I was able to make sounds, then say a letter or say a short word. 3 days later, I can have a conversation but I still slur my words and I can’t read anything out loud. I can’t work.

I talk for a living. I have a podcast that I’ve been doing for the last 9 years and I love it. In the last week, I suddenly had horrible neck pain which was diagnosed as a herniated disc in my neck. A few days later, that pain triggered something called FND… and I lost my speech.
