After my second summer working as one of the bakers at McMurdo Station I spent two weeks with my parents and younger brother in Hawaii. I don't remember which island it was, probably Maui, but we had a great time.

This is one of my favourite photos of my dad (he's on the left, at the end of the table). It's British Hong Kong in 1954-5 and he's a recent arrival from Toishan. Dad didn't end up making a career out of baking, but I did a fair amount of bakery work in my [β¦]
