Things are pretty obvious if you are willing to look.
Can confirm @cjlavigne.com is the kindest human.

20.03.2025 18:13 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0True! Our yard was ten inches deep in roadcrush when we moved in 20 yrs ago so anything that helped...a horrible ant infestation actually killed a tree but the anthill turned a metre square patch arable and we were able to plant a cherry tree there after the ants were gone so it is all a mystery

20.03.2025 05:40 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0But spent 65 years trying not to hate and freak out phobically at earthworms. Now I need a new opinion of them!
20.03.2025 05:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Unsure. Am truly asking due to being gobsmacked at this info! Soil improvement good? Bird food good? Sometimes invasive species find a niche and aren't destructive per se? Is the change in carbon cycling negative? I am not a scientist but I am a gardener of sorts...
20.03.2025 05:38 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0But where does this leave earthworms on the good-bad continuum?
20.03.2025 05:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Wow. I was today years old...etc. As a kid I was terrified of earthworms due to once being menaced with a 24-inch worm by a bigger kid. Also they come out on the sidewalks after rain & get squished -- icky. But I always thought they were good for soil, and had no idea they weren't original to here.
