For me, the major takeaway from this book was that once you pick a career, you must also master the nuances of the culture that is bred within that career. To be a scientist, it is not enough to simply *do science*. It is prudent to understand policy and legalities, prejudices, and maybe corruption.

I read Catherine Bracy's World Eaters in April 2025. Brilliant book that demonstrates how non-randomly entrepreneurial culture forms and affects society at large. Bracy succinctly criticizes major corporations that are household names and fairly reveals their role in "late-stage capitalism".

This is super cool. Respectfully, I am curious if using language like “illusion” makes it easier to brush off this pain as a psychological issue rather than physiological? Which may add to the stigma of perceived pain and invalidate lived experiences. Surely my question is a reach but any thoughts?
