Also most of the people at the studio I go to for still life drawing do watercolor, and the last time I did it was in primary. I wanted to give it a try but then remembered quickly why I disliked traditional painting xD Finding colors and managing the liquidity of the material are big parts of it.

I haven't been posting art for a while because got some digital stuff I haven't finished yet + took a break from traditional but just now returned to it. Here are the still life from this week. Shortest of breaks makes you rust immediately, it's crazy.

Yeah I guess it depends on how they define this "sub character". Maybe it has to be something other than your main character(s).

Tostchu on Steam A slow-burn atmospheric horror game about managing a toast shop in a desolate location in Central Anatolia, Turkey. Make toasts for customers, cash in, buy more ingredients, and witness strange events...

Working on an update for Tostchu. If you haven't heard about it, it's our psychological horror game:

If you consider buying I'd say wait for the update.

Officially started learning C++ I guess. Using our side project and my tavern manager thing as means to practice it.

I think a more experienced person would advice something more varied and conditional based on the scope of minimum viable product. A lot of genres like puzzle, role-playing, management etc. would require quite a bit to get there in terms of a fun prototype.

Generic gamedev advices online are so situational "make a week-long prototype first" sure but not every game can be that simple to prototype and it will be impossible to judge without all systems are in place "no scope creep" sure but what if it's a type of game which is not as fun when simplified

Started learning Unreal C++ in free time through our side project. Trying to render a 3D widget on a texture and build a LED light board based on that texture as my first task.

Whenever I hear drilling downstairs, I have a slight phobia of neighbors drilling directly under me, and the drill going through, and piercing my foot.

Video game trope: Past characters writing their convos and thoughts on a piece of paper and leaving it so someone in the future can find them and solve a puzzle or understand the lore. e.g. "Stop forgetting password to the storage room it's 1234!" "Doctor X giving me creeps, what's on his mind?"

I think the uniqueness of the characters will be attractive for sure but in this screenshot we have very initial rough models, it's nowhere near how they will look like in the end. It was just to make them recognizable so we can test the game.

I already shared a WIP art showcasing the characters.

Some take this as "oh so the game has to have a message?" but that's not it. A memory can also be a moment of discovery, a moment of shared experience with another player, and so on. A lot of the modern games are not after creating memories and so looking back at them, play times feel like a blur.

Now obviously she is not talking about memories playing the game here, but the ones created around it. However in my opinion there is no need to make a distinction. If you play a game and no new memories are formed on-and-off the screen, it's just a hollow experience.

Life After the Success of Dwarf Fortress - (Series Episode Four)
YouTube video by Noclip Life After the Success of Dwarf Fortress - (Series Episode Four)

I love to hear the core idea I built my perspective on games from someone non-gamedev. In this episode Annie Forsman-Adams says something akin to that she can't take Dwarf Fortress code with her or the money but only the memories.
