Very well shot & interesting documentary on cave diving. As someone who isn’t risk averse & has done paragliding, parachuting, rock climbing & abseiling, caving & cave diving is something I could never do so was fascinating watching these people push the boundaries.

This has 3 very distinct parts. It’s mostly a very solid book overall but found the starting 2/3’s were better but it then looses steam in the vegence part although the very end is great. The 2 main characters are very well written & come across well.

I think this is my favorite of his Hard Case Crime trilogy. It’s only short but ramps up the dread and has some great disturbing scenes. Could have done without the mystery of the dad but otherwise it’s a super fun read.

Mike Flanagan’s history of adaptations (King & non King books alike) is first rate. @mikeflanaganfilm.com naturally seems to intuitively know what’s key to the story, what to keep & what can be changed. The cast of Chuck is perfect & looking forward to a rewatch soon.

Been looking forward to this since hearing @mikeflanaganfilm.com was adapting it. When reading it I didn’t instantly think of it as a film but knew if anyone could do it justice it was him & he definitely has. Great King easter eggs throughout too.

I’m glad I have Hitchcocks approval as I think I have seen it about 20 times in the cinema & over 100 times in total!

This is very faithful adaptation but from one of Kings weaker novellas. Unfortunately the story doesn’t have a big finish which isn’t too bad in the book but it’s just not very visually cinematic either so the whole thing just falls flat.

Mostly a good set of novellas with the best being Life of Chuck. I enjoyed If it Bleeds but found some of the deductions a little easily made. The other 2 were good but considering how great some of his other novellas are just weren’t at that level.

Gwendy’s Magic Feather by Richard Chizmar

Including this as even though he didn’t write this he created the characters & contributes to the 3rd one so felt I better reread the 2nd. It’s an ok story but nothing too amazing. The plot is fairly basic and the characters don’t really advance.

Very solid adaptation of the book but thought it did a disservice to Holly in the finale. I enjoyed how they expanded on the story to include more times the killer emerged. It moves slowly which mostly works but at times it is almost glacially slow.

The Institute by Stephen King

This reminds me of Firestarter. A young child is abducted by a shadowy government agency & must escape. It is enjoyable & there’s enough difference to Firestarter but found that it does run out of steam by the end.
I will watch the series once it’s all available.

Much like Gwendy’s Button Box this is a really short novella that can be read in a day. It’s a fun read about friendship & prejudices wrapped up in a story about a man losing weight but not hope.

Finally got round to listen - very enjoyable episode.
I actually got to see this last year on the big screen at the Melbourne International Film Festival with the director doing a Q & A after it. Really great film.

If you are “afraid for your sons" based on 2% of reported rap3s being false, imagine how afraid we are for our daughters based on the other 98% .

South Africa is truly amazing. Only one full day in & already seen the most stunning sights. Highlight was definitely lion cubs devouring a zebra.
