Back then, I thought it was a costume.
But it’s who I am, and who I aspire to be.

I didn’t want this year to be my sunset cruise. Still, I’m charting a new course, and getting ready for the battles ahead.

I finally got to don the hat and blade for a Halloween party, even storming upstairs to rescue my wife from the kids, but I miss that band of swashbucklers and their camaraderie more than I can say.

My last military crew was S5R; said properly, S5Arrgh! We were the pirates. We even planned a pirate-themed party this spring, and I had my costume ready to board ship. But before the revelry began, the government made me walk the plank. I didn't get to share another round of laughter with the crew.

We Must Not Posthumously Sanitize Charlie Kirk's Hateful Life Influential anti-LGBTQ+ activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday. While condemning violence is something most can get behind, sanitization of his hate has gone too far.

I don’t always agree with Erin, but this is possibly her best work. There should be no malice, no condoning violence, but also absolutely no lionizing someone who preached hatred.

Political violence of all forms must be condemned and guarded against at all times. The way through a crisis of hatred is with a love that lifts us all up and carries us forward. We should all be able to attend events and return home safely, free from fear.
