a bloodroot flower on a short stem growing up from among fallen tree leaves. the small flower has 14 paddle-like bright white petals lined with several slightly grayed veins. at the center, around two dozen stamens with white filaments and bright yellow anthers surround a stout pale green ovary that tapers to a twin-lobed tan stigma.

eight bright white petals with parallel gray veins radiating out from a cluster of stamens with white filaments and somewhat dessicated looking yellow anthers, which crowd around a light green ovary capped with a brown stigma.

a bloodroot flower, same flower as the previous pic but with a little more of its surrounding context. behind the actively blooming flower, another bloodroot seems to have already lost all its petals and stamens: it's just an ovary on a stem now. each flower (or former flower) is accompanied by its own personal leaf, though not every leaf is presently accompanied by a flowering stem. the leaves are broad, a healthy green color, and have unusually arranged rounded lobes that cut down as much as around halfway to the base of the leaf.
