I need all of #lawsky to see this video from a Colorado appeals court livestream yesterday. I am in actual tears. Sound *incredibly* on, the subtitles will not help.

On Reading Critical Theory I: Perspectival Distortions First in a series on the interpretation of early critical theory (1930s-40s)

first of a series on problems in the interpretation of critical theory—in the first, I use Eva-Maria Ziege & Gillian Rose to argue for a different interpretive approach & offer a short crit of the cliched misreading of the elimination of “monopoly” from DoE

The whole span of German culture was languishing, precisely where it was most liberal, for its Hitler, and it is an injustice to the editors of Mosse and Ullstein or to the reorganizers of the Frankfurter Zeitung, to reproach them with time-serving under Nazism. They were always like that, and their line of least resistance to the intellectual wares they produced was continued undeflected in the line of least resistance to a political regime among whose ideo- logical methods, as the Führer himself declared, comprehensibility to the most stupid ranked highest. This has led to fatal confusion.

i think if these greedy companies want to make everything cost more dollars we should just make our dollars worth more of itself. that way we still get the stuff and the companies get the same amount of more dollars. win win $$$

a bloodroot flower on a short stem growing up from among fallen tree leaves. the small flower has 14 paddle-like bright white petals lined with several slightly grayed veins. at the center, around two dozen stamens with white filaments and bright yellow anthers surround a stout pale green ovary that tapers to a twin-lobed tan stigma.

eight bright white petals with parallel gray veins radiating out from a cluster of stamens with white filaments and somewhat dessicated looking yellow anthers, which crowd around a light green ovary capped with a brown stigma.

a bloodroot flower, same flower as the previous pic but with a little more of its surrounding context. behind the actively blooming flower, another bloodroot seems to have already lost all its petals and stamens: it's just an ovary on a stem now. each flower (or former flower) is accompanied by its own personal leaf, though not every leaf is presently accompanied by a flowering stem. the leaves are broad, a healthy green color, and have unusually arranged rounded lobes that cut down as much as around halfway to the base of the leaf.
