David copperfield for the narration style and the fact that it's bildungsroman, Mistborn because of the master/apprentice dynamic, and the something else is a person from the lead's past that tries to ruin things for her. I can't of any stories with that trope, though I know I've seen it before.

It's sort of a hybrid of David Copperfield, Mistborn, and something else I can't quite articulate. I'll explain in the next post.

There are people with XY chromosomes who develop as female phenotypically despite being "male" genotypically. Beliefs should not dictate policy, especially those beliefs which are invoked to harm rather than help.

This is all worsened by the fact that this administration's stance on sex is not based upon science, but the administrations personal beliefs. There exist many permutations both in the human genotype and phenotype. There are people with XXY chromosomes.

This department has transformed the mundane process of receiving a passport in this country into a frightening one for transgender individuals. Numerous reports have been made of people having their supporting documents confiscated, leaving them without identification or a passport.

I left the following comment:

The attitudes this administration—and particularly this department—have shown members of the trans and nonbinary community are disgusting, cruel, pointless, and unscientific.

I've been having a rough time lately. I won't get into specifics. Instead, I'll share a passage from the best book I've read this year, "Piranesi". This is dedicated to any of you who've been struggling as I have.

The fact that almost 100% of the Trump's efforts have been spent attacking the vulnerable—trans people, immigrants, and Medicaid patients—and none has been spent attacking billionaires than shows just how much of a bully and a coward he is.

The main thing keeping me hopeful is that this administration is loaded with the dumbest people imaginable.

As much as I fucking hate the disgusting things that this administration is doing instead of, I don't know, CONTROLLING INFLATION LIKE HE "PROMISED," I want to remind my trans siblings that our community has been through worse before. Much worse. We'll get through this too, together.

I had much the same thought last night. That would hurt me more than anything though because On Writing is the single most important book for my development as a writer.

It really does. He produced a lot of truly great films unfortunately.

Hope is an innately human thing. While we should never look away from a bad situation because we don't want to see-optimism cannot be a mere refutation of the bad-it's no better to deny that our world and its people are beautiful. It is worth fighting for. You are worth saving. 9/9
