Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed. Pete Hegseth praises ICE while demeaning the people of Minnesota

This is an actual post from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth: Praising ICE after Alex Pretti was killed, blaming the Democratic leadership of Minnesota, and writing that ICE is greater/better than Minnesota.

He is actively demeaning the people of Minnesota just hours after Pretti was murdered.

And he didn’t. He tried to help a woman who’d just been assaulted. There was nothing rash, stupid, or radical about what he did. He showed kindness. And they killed him for it.

Imagine how much they’d be lying about what happened without all the videos showing it from multiple angles.

I don’t feel hopeless, I just feel burning rage. I’m mad that ordinary people have to put their lives on the line to protect their neighbors against ICE. The people in power could stop this at any time.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

Please know that all of the institutional protections that help prevent holding police officers accountable for violence and killing are now being used to help prevent holding ICE accountable for violence and killing.

At the end of the day there was one last cookie that no one would take. I LOVE YOU, MINNESOTA!
