As a veteran who’s deployed, I know exactly what “in theater” means. It’s a military term for operations in foreign countries. Using it to describe Minneapolis isn’t accidental…and I can’t overemphasize how dangerous that language shift is.

Vile anti trans bill passed in Kansas

ICE's decision to just leave cars abandoned in the roads is one of those dystopian things that makes you recoil in shock when you encounter it.

Speaking of children not being able to walk to school, ICE agents are snatching kids off the streets of Minneapolis (and St. Paul!) and parents are having to form patrols to guard against kids getting abducted at pick-up and drop-off.

BREAKING: The Senate just blocked a bill that would have renewed ICE's budget without real, enforceable changes.

This is a direct result of hundreds of thousands of people across the nation demanding that our Senators vote no.

(g) (1) Any driver's license issued prior to July 1, 2026, that identifies the gender of the individual named on such license in a manner that is contrary to the definition of such term as defined in K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 77- 207, and amendments thereto, shall be invalid. (2) The director shall correct any driver's license records that identify the gender of the individual named in such record in a manner that is contrary to the definition of such term as defined in K.S.A. 2025 Supp. 77- 207, and amendments thereto. The director shall send written notice to each such individual notifying such individual that such license is invalid and to surrender such license to the division of vehicles. Upon the surrender of any such license, the director shall issue a new driver's license to such individual with the correct gender identification for such individual.

It plainly invalidates all driver's licenses held by trans people if they've changed their gender markers. It requires them to turn those licenses over.

They don't have a list to check but now any out trans person could be ratted out by family, friends or coworkers and have their licenses revoked.

The Kansas bathroom bill applies to state government buildings. State Rep. Abi Boatman, a Wichita Democrat who is trans, was selected to fill a vacant seat earlier this month and it's believed this bill was specifically targeted at her. Disgusting and hateful.

To dare say that oppressors like MAGA do NOT control the narrative. I write and publish fiction because even if no one else reads it, I myself need it. And I make my stories about youth because it’s one way I can use my talents to make it clear that all children deserve equality, safety and dignity.

I write fiction to cope. I write fiction because otherwise I cannot breathe. I write fiction to both point out the need to eliminate cruelty and to also showcase the power of love. To imagine that hearts could change and that all of us can thrive.

I am deeply concerned about Liam and every child at the Dilley Detention Center.

No parent should have to worry about whether their child is eating, getting medical care, or deteriorating in detention.

What I saw was alarming — and unacceptable. Liam must be released immediately.
