Visited the brilliant MAGPAS Air Ambulance team today. They operate 24/7, responding to life-threatening emergencies across our region and attended 1,872 callouts last year. They receive no regular state funding and rely on donations to keep saving lives. An absolutely vital service. 🚁🧡

✅ Met with the Campaign for Mathematical Studies which encourages young people and women into further mathematics education STEM careers
✅ Surpassed 9600 cases closed where constituents have come to me for support, advice or information

✅ Met with Citizens Advice to find out more about how we can improve important access to support for constituents in Ely and East Cambridgeshire
✅ Spoke in Parliament against the Home Secretary’s statement on her plans to reform the asylum system

✅ Hosted pupils of The Shade School Soham in Parliament, who came to exhibit their fantastic artwork to the All-Party Parliamentary Committee on Creative Health
✅ Held my regular surgery, meeting with constituents who had come to me for advice

✅ Stood with fellow East of England Lib Dem MPs to call for a 5% VAT cut for hospitality in advance of the upcoming Budget
✅ Met with Aviva to discuss the serious flooding risks faced by thousands of properties in my constituency in the coming years, and what we can do to meet this threat

Going out shouldn’t be an unaffordable luxury.
I’m calling for an emergency VAT cut for pubs, restaurants, and accommodation in the upcoming Budget — reducing VAT from 20% to 15%.
This would put money back in people’s pockets, help local venues survive and thrive, and protect jobs in Ely & E Cambs.

It’s International Men’s Day — a chance to support men and boys’ wellbeing. Huge thanks to local initiatives like Soham Men’s Shed and the Ely Men’s Walking and Talking Group, and to the countless projects nationwide helping men connect, talk, and thrive.

Yesterday, the Home Secretary announced plans to overhaul the UK’s broken asylum system. The system needs fixing, but Labour's proposals signal a deeply concerning shift—an attack on Britain’s proud tradition of compassion and support for refugees and asylum seekers.

Our precious chalk streams — like the beautiful River Snail in my constituency — are under real pressure. 🌱💧

That’s why I’ve been calling for strong, statutory protections, not just guidance that can be changed without scrutiny.

On Tuesday, I spoke about the urgent need for a national dyslexia strategy. Too many children are being labelled as failures when the system is failing them. We must ensure early diagnosis, proper support in the classroom and fairer assessments for pupils like my constituent, Lucy. buff.ly/YFsTuOf

✅Highlighted the importance of protecting chalk streams like the River Snail in a debate on the Planning and Infrastructure Bill in Parliament

✅Paid tribute to fallen members of our armed forces at Ely Remembrance Sunday parade, laying a wreath at the war memorial
✅Advocated for important improvements to screening and support for dyslexic pupils in school in a debate in Parliament

✅Visited Soham Men’s Shed, to present them with an Early Day Motion in their name, to recognise their recent break-in and theft, as well as the inspiring contribution they make to their community
✅Judged my Primary School Christmas Card Competition- an incredible display of young talent!
