We are overtaking the Conservatives and on the cusp of overtaking Labour too.

More and more people are backing the Liberal Democrats to stand up to Reform and stop Trump’s America becoming Farage’s Britain.

Frankly, the kind of people who have spent the last weekend insulting me in this way aren't just deeply horrible people, they are also actively misogynistic by propping up these beauty ideals.

Never let them get to you, you are all beautiful in your own way and that's amazing.

I cannot standard the standards we hold women too in so much of the world.

It is literally impossible to be a woman without some strange weirdo on the internet picking apart your appearance for fun.

Because I see women my height every day, I see women with hands and feet like mine every day.

I wonder if these GC people ever stopped to think about how they were making those women feel.

Or if they were so caught up in their desire to hate me, that they forgot women come in all shapes and sizes.

The absolute torrent of abuse I've been getting the last week has started to settle, and I've moved on from being sad about it to now just being really annoyed.

I mean these people have picked apart every aspect of my appearance only to insult it. Who benefits here?

We, the Liberal Democrats only official women's group, wholeheartedly stand by the amazing Woman that Cllr Chris Northwood is.

She is an inspiration to many within the party with her dedication to the party and her constituents.

She is a very deserving winner.

@chrisn.xyz is an icon and inspiration to us all. Really glad to see the Lib Dems standing with trans members against anti-trans abuse.

I completely agree, twitter is not the place to debate this. I also don't mean that everyone should be having debates with the most extremist GC activists.

But those of us who are happy to should engage with soft GC people.

I was referring to trans people AND our allies. I'm not sure which work I should have used, but I would like to learn so I can use it in future.

They're not who we have to get through to. We need to get through to the public and I'm sorry but we just aren't right now.

You'll notice I didn't say compromise. I said find a way forward.

We HAVE to actually start talking to people. I'm not saying by having these conversations we're gonna convince GCs we matter.

But I am saying by actually talking about this we can win over the general public.

To actually engage in this and explain to the average person WHY these rights matter.

Yeah cus sticking our fingers in our ears and pretending everything is okay has worked soooo well for us over the past few years.

When we refuse to even defend ourselves it cannot suprise us that public opinion is turning against us. The only narratives the public hear is the GCs because we refuse

Right the reason I said 'trans activist' was that I was trying to refer to both trans people and our allies in one go. Plus, the anti-trans dog whistle is TRA isn't it?

Whether we like it or not, (and trust me I don't like it), our existence is being debated.

We can either be part of it or we can no platform ourselves.

Isolated? Im a trans woman in the public eye. I've literally just had to leave twitter due to the relentless harassment and abuse I've been getting.

Whether we like it or not people are debating our rights. We can either debate back or deplatform ourselves.

At the end of the day there are human beings on both sides of this, and I don't want anyone to have to feel as afraid and upset as I have been for the past few days.

But if we don't dial down the tension here, more and more people. Vulnerable people. Will end up having similar abuse.

I mean the other place has seen people call me and 'it', try and figure out my deadname, insult me, verbally abuse me, stalk me, perve on me, etc, etc.

This has really screwed with me, and cause me to have at least 3 panic attacks over the last few days.

I know, and I completely get the apprehension here. Trust me I've had my fair share of pile ons (hence I've temporarily quit twitter).

But my worry is by continuing to inflamed tensions we are going to keep having this shouting match. This serves none of us.
