Tomorrow (February 12th) has been designated a Day of Mourning across the province of British Columbia, to mark the tragedy at Tumbler Ridge, to remember the victims, and to support the community in its grief. The Legislature will be marking a Moment of Silence at noon; we encourage people and organizations across the City to join in that marking of silence, and reflect in the way that is appropriate for you and those close to you. New Westminster is a connected community, and we know that grief shared is a lighter burden to carry. If you feel the need to be with community, to come together and share at this time, we encourage community members to gather at the front steps at City Hall at 6pm on February 12th for a candlelight vigil. All are welcome. There will be no formal ceremony, only an opportunity to be together, support one another, and to send our community’s love north to the people of Tumbler Ridge. Hold those you love close to you tomorrow, and hold your heart open for those you don’t yet know. That is where the light is found during dark times.

I have no experience with stratas where there are only a handful of units. I wonder how well they operate.

He is probably an outlier, but I have a friend who moved from NW to Pitt Meadows and he doesn't drive. He loves it. We meet up for drinks in Port Moody occasionally - we both take transit home and he usually gets home quicker than I do.

You have small car parking spaces at TACC, which is great, but oversized vehicles like you speak of can fit in them and they do, with no penalty. What can be done to enforce their proper use and encourage smaller vehicles?

There's a hell of a rebate on the Buzz right now. Having said that, they priced it way too high to start with.

You have a point. I noticed drivers have a tendency to shoot straight through that one.

Back in my youth, scheduled activities were rare. Kids played in the back lane. That solved the driving problem.

You can end trip on a meter with an Evo in Vancouver, Burnaby or North Van, which solves your previous parking problem. Don't try it in New West though - my neighbour did and got a ticket!
