A photograph of a residential street in Swindon. The road runs from bottom left to centre right, and the mostly detatched 1930s houses can be seen on the far side. A few leafless trees can be seen on either side of the road, and everything looks a little damp. The photo was taken in November - it's not like this all the time in Swindon. In the centre of the road, just below the centre of the photo, is a rectangular manhole cover, which marks the approximate location of the finds made in February 1935.
Some #UrbanPrehistory for #TombTuesday. The manhole in the middle of this road in Swindon marks the approx location at which a group of four Middle Bronze Age urns, two containing cremations, and 3 small 'accessory vessels', were found in February 1935 during the digging of a sewage trench. (1/4)
