Biden to commute sentences of 1,500 'non-violent' offenders, in the biggest single-day act of clemency to date β€œAmerica was built on the promise of possibility and second chances,” the president said in a statement Thursday.

Way to go, Joe!!! Gosh I'm going to miss him. www.nbcnews.com/politics/pol...

Great reporting from The Marshall Project. We seriously need to put the humanity back in our healthcare system. These stories are heartbreaking.

The statement by UK Health Secretary Streeting speaking "directly" to the young trans people in the UK who are effected by this policy just adds insult to injury. archive.is/vuvUd

The Constitution Protects Transgender People. The Supreme Court May Have Other Ideas Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for youth looks like a clear case of sex discriminationβ€”that is, if justices put precedent over politics.

If the Supreme Court were a normal court doing normal court thingsβ€”like applying precedentβ€”deciding whether discriminating against transgender youth violates the Constitution would be an easy case.

But it’s not a normal court, and so the future for trans rights looks bleak.

NJ city hasn't had traffic death in 7 years thanks to 'daylighting' Daylighting removes parking spots near intersections and often replaces them with curb extensions, bike racks or planters.

They've been implementing this policy just over the river in Hoboken to great success, contributing to some of the safest urban streets in the country. www.fox5ny.com/news/hoboken...

Daylighting (the practice of creating open space around cross-walks to promote visibility for both pedestrians and drivers) is being introduced before NYC council. Long way to go, but I can't overstate how beneficial this would be for promoting pedestrian safety in the city

Side note, did anyone else notice a large plunge in their minutes listened this year, or was it just me? Down over 50 percent! Weird

This this this. No matter what happens, we showed up, and will continue to do so.

While the make-up of the court is daunting, this is what gives me hope. So grateful for all the trans lawyers, activists, kids, and allies today and every day.

I know too many people who wish the Trump assassination attempts had been successful. Now a significant number are viewing the assassin in this case as a sort of folk hero. This is the sort of breakdown in social order that occurs when the "little guy" has been taking it from all sides for too long

It shouldn't take the assassination of an insurance CEO for these companies to realize that their policies (which this roll-back demonstrates can be undone at the swipe of a pen and are purely profit-seeking) cause massive social harm

we have moved at an accelerating pace towards a place of extremely low social trust and trust in institutions generally

there are a lot of people who are profiting from the causes of declining trust, and none of them are going to like the consequences

unfortunately, neither will the rest of us
