Maybe my husband will have to move away and I will live with my kid through his senior year because the federal government is under attack.

This is absolutely insane but doing a walk/run on the #Peloton app and listening to Mariana Fernandez's words helped me have some hope that this shit show won't last forever.

I am thankfully home today with a day off. I'm not feeling well. I'm thinking about how yesterday I told three separate crying kids I loved them. Twelve and thirteen year-old kids overwhelmed by life.

At conferences yesterday, a few parents asked about my husband, the federal employee, and expressed concern and sympathy. I didn't tell them what he does---this town is that big and that small. Do you see why I don't want to move?

Good Morning, Bluesky Void. Did you know how exhausting conference weeks are for teachers? Long days. My parents are great and no conference is contentious, just draining.

I was going to go to NYC for my fiftieth birthday celebration with three of my best friends. They are all connected to the federal government, including my family. None of us felt confident enough about the future to do it. We just don't know. Cancelled trip.

I very much feel as if I am talking into a void here, which is okay. I live in low-key dread these days. I don't know how to talk about that in a way or place that feels safe.

I sat in with my dad while he talked to the tele health social worker about my mom and her dementia. The social worker practically begged him to consider taking an anti-depressant. My dad is convinced he doesn't need it. It's maddening.
