Hi. Yes. Hello. I am addicted to buying, owning, storing, and labelling beads.

I do also like making things with the beads, but my addiction really does seem to be the buying and owning part.

I fear sleep-is-no-longer-restorative adulthood is around the corner.

Thanks to her job, my daughter has entered ibuprofen adulthood.

She also now understands why we didn't do much on weekends. I call this no-leftover-energy adulthood.

If I could tell my teen self something, what would it be?

"I know you're embarrassed of them now, but when you're going through your high school yearbook with your daughter, she will comment about not being used to seeing you without your glasses. Just wear your glasses in your senior picture."

We have a local independent bead store. The lady who owns it is exceptionally kind. Her store is small and packed, but she doesn't always have the things I need. Michaels does. Aside from Michaels, it's just the one bead store and she's retiring soon.

So, stop it. Just stop it.

I will not abide gatekeeping or subtle shaming for using the tools folks have access to.

If one more bead crafter types out "avoid Michaels (sorry)" I will cry. Michaels is accessible. Michaels almost always has a sale going on. You are fine shopping at Michaels.

If you have access to independent bead stores where you live, yes, independent bead stores are a better resource than Michaels.

But if you only have Michaels or Walmart or even effing HL, it is not a failing on your part to source craft materials there.

We are curled up with a blanket watching Gilmore Girls and she's fine now.

I'm trying to get some household chores done, but my dog is freaking out at me because this routine on a Tuesday is new to her. I think she's trying to tell me she wants me to curl up with a blanket and watch Gilmore Girls.

I love watching a show that ran from like 2005 to 2020 because of how big the changes are in technology.

I also love when I know what year they're filming based solely on the cell phone they're using.

I love that we may not agree on much, but we will agree that science is green.
