Don't get me wrong I am livid the TNS admin has been throwing both students and staff in chaos the last few years. It's a shame, unbelievable really that the folks that got TNS into this mess will get out of it the least scathed. /4

As I journeyed back to Melbourne, memories of times on top floor of 72 Fifth Ave reminded me of how special TNS was for me and how grateful I am to have been there -thrown into the diversity of skills, interests, and life histories of folks at TNS. It was the people that made the place special. /3

Yes, 7-8 years ago there were whispers in the corridor that they'd close the PhD program but never GPIA. Then the awful truth in the form of a messenger group chat. It confirmed that indeed GPIA will be 'indefinitely discontinued.' My heart sunk for friends and colleagues at TNS. /2

There are really no words to put it.. I celebrated the end of a symposium by opening this app where I came across a post about GPIA @ The New School being closed down. Throughout the day I kept thinking surely that isn't true. /1

ethnographic work may seem solitary but i'm so humbled by the conversations I have at the research site. not only are they sharing their insights but they are helping me assemble the puzzle, too.

i often joke that my research is similar to putting a 60,000 piece puzzle together. yday, a participant added coyly: '...and the truth lies somewhere in between.'

Word of the week comes from a megacorp newsletter. Impairment / impaired in corporate speak means something is less than itโs worth; hence, it is a fluffed up yet quick way of saying โyour company is a fckn liability.โ Brutal. Literally. Figuratively.

TBH the character limit is still as anxiety inducing as it was in 2009 and right now is not the time to be boxed in by that...any thoughts/musings/ruminations over 300 go in here -- edtechvalues.net#dotpoints. also still under construction and working my way backward starting with reading group no.3

it's an interesting moment for the industry really... +5 years since COVID lockdowns, startups maturing. lots to unpack and hear the stories/voices from across the globe. looking forward to this special issue :)

in my interviews with edtech devs, we talked in length about the bits and bobs or buttons that go into your average LMS. suprisingly most of their efforts are not on content or curriculum but rather thinking through how best to accommodate the variety of family relationships /households.

a sucker for most historical fiction esp one so close to home. โthe three-cornered sunโ by linda ty-casper is set during the 1896 Philippines revolution. @mlq3.bsky.social absolutely spot on the revolution was not only about independence from spain but also โa confrontation between filipinos.โ
