03.02.2025 22:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You probably have this too but just in case. I presume this is about her. It was written in 2019 so it may have more information. ualresearchonline.arts.ac.uk/id/eprint/15...
03.02.2025 21:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've found three newspaper clippings: 1955, 1967 and 1973, where she was speaking at events. Let me know if you don't have them and I'll tell you what they are :)
03.02.2025 21:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think it depends so much on what the person wants. I guess you'd settle on some wording your comfortable with like, 'no results are guaranteed since it depends on what records exist, however 100% effort is guaranteed.'
30.01.2025 17:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0On the house research, I'm looking into a house at the moment that a friend lives in. It was used in short term rentals by fashionable people in the 19th Century. The clues are from the society pages. Sometimes I just get 'Mrs MacLean + party'. Can still find them though :)
30.01.2025 17:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is exactly the issue I'm trying to figure out. What is reasonable to ask for, given that results are not guaranteed.
30.01.2025 17:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'd also do anything in return if I can
30.01.2025 16:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've also recently been working on house history
30.01.2025 16:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm also toying with the idea of going professional. I like helping people who are stuck and also solving old family mysteries. I've been working with people for free for about five years. If you do find collect useful start-up information, is it possible you could draw up an information sheet.
30.01.2025 16:54 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I love solving mysteries, finding stories, and tracking down 'lost' people. I'm an ex-Detective and a storyteller so those aspects are right up my street.
27.01.2025 12:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Glad you're here! Love your posts :)
27.01.2025 12:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Aha! I had a look and found them and wondered if it was them. I love the postcards and I always want to look for the stories in them.
27.01.2025 12:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There are not many Charltons in Burlsfield
27.01.2025 10:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm curious to identify these people.
27.01.2025 10:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0She appears on census returns with Richard's wife Maria and on one occasion with their Dad.
24.01.2025 13:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Their ages are on it.
24.01.2025 13:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maria had a sister Philippa who married a Tatchell.
24.01.2025 13:32 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's a list of some property leases in 1807 in Truro lists Peter Perry about three times and John Perry and Richard Perry. They appear to be living next door to each other.
24.01.2025 13:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Have you seen this? www.findmypast.co.uk/image-viewer...
24.01.2025 13:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Great! Well, not for him :(
24.01.2025 12:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you are still trying to connect the Richard Perry lost at sea to your Perrys, I think that Richard is the son of a John Henry Perry as this is the name of his first son. Do you have a John Henry in Peter's generation, or Peter's father's generation, at all?
24.01.2025 12:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0There's a Maria Catherine Waters who married a George Perry in Falmouth in 1831. There's a Maria Catherine Waters baptised 1812 in St Hilary, Penzance, which is about 13 miles from St Just.
24.01.2025 12:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Aha! So 1871 census Loveday Ledan (born 1823) is the daughter of Catherine Perry and niece Loveday Perry and Maria C Perry. So Maria is married to a brother of Loveday and Catherine. OK so is there a brother George? see next message.
24.01.2025 12:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have to go out for a couple of hours. I'll send what I've found when I get back. I hope it helps.
24.01.2025 10:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well done! Which of the children is your ancestor? Is it William?
24.01.2025 09:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think the reason you can't find the Richard you were seeking is that this is not your Maria. The Maria with Loveday has a middle name beginning with C and is born in St Just in 1811. Your Maria hasn't a middle name on record, and was born in Looe about 1806/7.
24.01.2025 09:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0here is the list of ships 'Richard Perry' crewed in his navy record. This Richard Perry was likely involved in the Napoleonic wars which would lead to an enhanced pension. I found it by searching 'Richard Perry' and 'Boatswain'. search.findmypast.co.uk/record?id=GB...
24.01.2025 09:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have her in Liskeard, Marylebone and Walthamstow
24.01.2025 01:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You said she was with Richardβs siblings in later censuses. I didnβt find them
24.01.2025 01:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The crew list might have more than just their names on it
