I've long suspected that hazardous entities wear a façade of "cuteness" in order to more effectively infiltrate our lives and worm past our defenses. I have more than one child and more than one cat and my interactions with them all have bolstered this theory.

A reclining human body is bursting into new life such as fungi and rhyzomes sprouting from the face in black and gold ink, and slugs, saplings and trees sprouting from the legs and stomach in gold and black ink. Behind the body, framing it, is a brilliant red ink swath indicating a bush with blazing red flowers. Dragonflies float overhead in an afternoon-sun-yellow sky implied by the yellow color of the paper this is drawn upon.

A hand-drawn picture using black and blue inks depicting a black submarine floating in the shallower, lighter waters while deep below in the black waters can be seen the white eyes of an immense serpent and nothing else of the creature. The creature must be far bigger than the submarine in scale.

The universe reduces down to one single, red, point.

The Terror: The slow mental degradation of the people trapped in the house coupled with the sinister mystery of animals and people being found together, before you know what it means. Honorable mention of "Where Did She Wander" from the Silver John series.

Reasoning: Stunning imagery, ie the horrible phantoms and tapestry of The Triumph of Death to the "afterthought of creation" that is Reelfoot Lake in Fishead...husband took me there as a surprise because he knew how much I love the story. The psychological horror of The Spider... We played all day.
