Shifting how people understand the problem is a critical step in creating cities that are safe for all. Well done @visionzerovancouver.ca and @tomflood.bsky.social !

Right Turn of Death | Creator Network
YouTube video by CBC British Columbia Right Turn of Death | Creator Network

Great video from the CBC and creator network about the perils of the right turn on red aka “the right turn of death!”

Right turn on red is a flawed improvement that endangers road users for marginal gain. It should be banned.

Enough.

Awesome to see this billboard up in Vancouver.
Was really incredible to work with the people at @visionzerovancouver.ca to bring this to life.

Great teaming up with @tomflood.bsky.social on another billboard! Nothing can protect us from streets that are dangerous by design. Let's demand change together.

I refuse to go to any chain store, especially restaurants because it’s easy to find local ones, that pay minimum wage, employ temporary workers and only give out part time jobs.

Oddly specific and wide ranging boycott.

Interesting, but Canadians shouldn’t be too proud; much of the “urban” in Canada is still car-oriented SFH.

Canadian suburbs are denser than American ones. Density does not always translate into transit use or walkability.

RELAX.

The @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social T-Shirt shop is now open with this and two other designs to start with.

Happy to have collaborated with TBL on these and really awesome that $5 from every shirt goes to a great org. bikinglawyermerch.myshopify.com

Very interesting article about pedestrian deaths in the us. Fortunately canada does not suffer the same fate.

Almost doubled pedestrian deaths since 2010 in the us.

Most likely culprit is size of trucks.

Cellphone use cannot be tracked but we know it has an impact.

Billionaire prevention programs such as wealth tax, progressive income tax are a must.
Billionaires are a real societal problem we should get rid of.

YIMBYs (like @ahvancouver.bsky.social) often say, "legalize apartments", or "end the apartment ban".

I don't want to speak for anyone else. But when I say that--things like this is what I'm talking about. No street, no neighbourhood, is too good for housing like this.

Housing is good!

Sean Orr: Upcoming Motions on October 8th — COPE Vancouver Sean Orr here. Here’s a summary of this week’s big motions on October 8th. First up, we have a motion from Ken Sim to lock in a 1% property tax increase. He’s calling it 0% but it’s actually 1%...

It is a BUSY week at City Council.

On top of ABC's Zero Sense motion that threatens deep cuts, there are a bunch of good and important motions on the agenda.

Councillor @seanorr.bsky.social has summarized it all here: www.votecope.ca/news/sean-or...

Parking minimums are an enormous strain on the financial viability of housing development projects. Parking is often not necessary in transit corridors.

Nope. He's disgusted by car bloat.

Ken Sim proposes Vancouver property tax freeze in his final budget before next year's election | CBC News Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim's final chance at delivering the type of low tax increases he promised in his election campaign will come to a head next week.

In the byelection, Ken Sim was served an eviction notice.

Rather than change direction, he & his billionaire-backed party have doubled down.

While ABC pushes a 0% election-year gimmick, we're building a movement to stop the cuts & demand fully-funded public services.

The thing about oilsands companies is that over the past decade they have focused on cutting as many jobs as possible in the name of efficiency while paying as little as possible for the pollution they cause.

Stop every campaign/effort telling people on bicycles/pedestrians and anyone outside the car how to be safe and divert ALL resources to remove every opportunity for drivers to be dangerous.

NDP governments have an historical tendency to let the debt balloon.

If you can’t lower costs then raise revenue! Don’t let this become a debt crisis.

They are sounding and looking like the deer in the headlights right now.
