As part of the NASA Sea Level Change Team we've been working on characterizing this risk. We've been focusing on Pacific island nations, but we're working on expanding this database!

I've always found it interesting how the Netherlands is full of coaches, for almost every aspect of life it seems.

Grew up in/near The Hague and went to university in Delft. Both cities have great infrastructure for cycling, which is the default mode of transport, especially in the city centers. Went to Paris recently and was pleasantly surprised by the biking infrastructure! I’d add Barcelona to the list too.

I see this not just in climate change policy, but in many other areas too, like shortage of affordable housing, immigration and retirement age/demographics here in NL (and elsewhere). A lot of solutions suck in the short term, which makes them unpopular with politicians who work on ~4 year cycles.

I mostly agree with this sentiment; I do think there’s value in talking to “competing” efforts at places like AGU, as that’s a great way to find out what you may have been forgetting. There has to be a way for this without the competitive side which might lead to secrecy and closed doors.

Thanks to all who came to my poster on Wednesday and great to see our SWOT work make it into the slides for the town hall too, what a revolutionary satellite for measuring sea level and estuaries right on the coast.

He founded his finance company in 1999 when he was ~16 and then founded Draken in 2012. He got his degree in 2011. My guess is that he got it to have at least some kind of (aerospace) credential for his jet training company.
